Maria Sharapova has withdrawn from Brisbane International - Australian Open Series due to a right collarbone injury, but believes she'll be ready for the Australian Open.
She says a certain starter for the new years first grand slam the Australian Open and will overcome her right collarbone injury in the 12 days left until the first round. The injury flared 10 days ago and forced her withdrawal from a Korean exhibition match late last week.
"I had a bit of inflammation in my collarbone, and I sent (scan results) to a doctor in New York and he told me I couldn't really do much overhead training for about a week," she said. "So to be fair, I haven't really given myself a chance to pretty much hit any serves or anything over my head, So I just kind of ran out of time here."
