Sharapova continued her out standing form at the Australian Open with a straight-set win over Ekatrina Makarova on Tuesday, conceding only nine games in five matches en route to a semifinal against Li Na. She had a 6-2, 6-2 quarterfinal win over fellow Russian and has spent just 5 hours, 15 minutes on court so far in the tournament, a record she extended with ease victory against Makarova. Almost half of women's draw sorted out for the semi-finals. Sharapova reaches her fifth Australian Open semi-final. This is the 5th Time, she reached in Australian Open Semi Final. She won the Australian Open title in 2008. She will play against Chinese sixth seed Li Na in the semi-finals on Thursday.
"I think the reason I started so well in this tournament is because I knew that I had to," Sharapova said. "Considering I didn't play any matches, I'm happy with my form. But, like I said, I'm always looking to improve. That's always my goal." "And my next match is against Makarova and I have to do the right things to beat her. "Obviously I want to be playing my best tennis towards the end of the second week."
